Aromatherapy Diffusers

Amongst the various ways of enjoying the benefits of aromatherapy is diffusion. Diffusion is the process of dispersing essential oil vapours into the air. This is a fantastic way of benefiting from the effects of essential oils while going about your day and doing other home activities.

If you are frugal and would like to try diffusion without spending money, then there are a couple of ways to try it at home with some objects you most likely already own. One secret method is using a candle – not an aromatherapy candle, but a regular candle. Light the candle and it burn for a few minutes, then extinguish it. Now add a few drops of your essential oil of choice to the melted wax around the wick. Now light it again, and this time the aromatic oil fumes will fill the room. Please be careful when lighting the candle, since essential oils are flammable. Just put a couple of drops. This method gives you a taste of diffusion, but it is not long-lasting.

Another way which I prefer, is to pre-boil some hot water and put it in a bowl or other recepticle, and add a few drops of essential oil. The oil will be diffused in the steam rising from the boiling water. This is somewhat safer than the candle method mentioned above, but has the similar drawback of being shortlived. After the water cools you need to reheat more if you want to continue diffusion.

If you enjoy diffusion with those testable methods but want longer-lasting effects, you can buy an aromatherapy diffuser. Aromatherapy diffusers come in a few varieties such as nebulizers, electric heat diffusers, fan diffusers, candle diffusers, clay pot diffusers, and lamp rings. These various types range in price and quality, but all will provide a more hands-off, long-lasting essential oil diffusion experience.
